Why the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail?
The Classic New Zealand Wine Trail was created to encourage international visitors to travel through the regions of Hawke's Bay, Wairarapa, Wellington and Marlborough. It is backed by the Regional Tourism Organisations from these regions that see the benefit of working collaboratively to encourage visitors to travel off the beaten track on a road more scenic and less travelled.
Research has proven that exploring landscapes is a primary motivator for travellers to New Zealand; the sign-posted touring route helps visitors navigate the regions this with ease. The Wine Trail also capitalises on New Zealand’s fast growing reputation for producing great wine. Research shows that visitors are increasingly interested in New Zealand’s wine and food, so this route helps visitors branch out from the traditional touring route and explore the country in more depth.
